Corporate sustainability and marine environmental consultant
Dr. Patricia Martí Puig is a marine scientist with international experience in the Mediterranean, Red Sea, Pacific, Indian Ocean and Caribbean. Patricia was born in the Mediterranean, in Alicante, and her passion for the ocean dates back to her childhood, snorkelling with her mum who taught her about the uniqueness of the Mediterranean Sea and how it has changed in one generation. In the meantime, Patricia has seen these changes with her own eyes, and she is committed to protect the oceans for future generations. Throughout her 10-year career in marine conservation she has led and worked on several projects within NGOs, the private sector and in academia. Working globally has opened opportunities to tackle common marine environmental issues from different perspectives. Patricia is currently working as a consultant and for Oceanogami in several marine conservation projects, including environmental campaigns (i.e. plastic campaigns), the organisation of workshops (i.e. Small-scale fisheries, coastal communities...) and other conservation projects in the field of Marine Protected Areas.
Patricia has a BSc in Biology and a MSc in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation. She holds a Ph.D. in Biodiversity and Evolution. Her Ph.D. was part of the Training Network for Monitoring Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas, where she worked on using genetic tools for evaluating Marine Protected Areas.
